The life path numbers

1: The Leader

Ones are born to start things. You want to do it your way, first, and you would rather fail at your own idea than succeed at someone else's.

2: The Peacemaker

Twos read the room before anyone speaks. You bring people together and make things work quietly behind the scenes.

3: The Communicator

Threes light up a room. You think out loud, tell great stories and need a creative outlet like other people need food.

4: The Builder

Fours build things that last. You like a plan, a system and a solid foundation, and you are the one people trust to get it done.

5: The Adventurer

Fives need movement. New places, new people, new ideas: routine feels like a cage and change feels like oxygen.

6: The Nurturer

Sixes look after everyone. Family, friends, the neighbour's cat: you feel responsible for making their lives better.

7: The Seeker

Sevens ask why. You need to understand how the world really works, and you need time alone to think about it.

8: The Powerhouse

Eights are built for the big leagues. You think in goals, results and returns, and you are not afraid of power or money.

9: The Humanitarian

Nines feel the whole world. You want to leave things better than you found them and you forgive more easily than most.

11: The Intuitive (master number)

Eleven is the first master number: a two with the volume turned up. You sense things before they happen and you can inspire people without trying.

22: The Master Builder (master number)

Twenty-two combines a seven's vision with a four's discipline. You can turn huge dreams into real, lasting things.

33: The Master Teacher (master number)

Thirty-three is the rarest master number: a six raised to its peak. You lead through care and teach by example.

Questions about life path numbers

How do I calculate my life path number?

Reduce the month, the day and the year of your birth to single digits by adding their digits, then add the three results and reduce again. Example: 29 July 1990 gives 7, 11 (2 + 9, a master number, kept) and 1 (1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, 1 + 9 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1). 7 + 11 + 1 = 19, and 1 + 9 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1. Life path 1.

What are master numbers?

In numerology 11, 22 and 33 are called master numbers and are not reduced further. They are read as stronger versions of 2, 4 and 6.

Why do calculators give different results?

There are two common methods: adding every digit of the date in one go, or reducing month, day and year separately first, as we do. They usually agree, but they can differ when a master number appears along the way.

Is numerology scientific?

No. Numerology is a tradition going back to Pythagorean ideas about numbers, not a science, and studies have found no link between birth dates and personality. Enjoy it as a mirror, not a map.
