Shuffling the deck…
How to read your cards
A tarot deck has 78 cards. The 22 cards of the Major Arcana, from The Fool to The World, stand for the big themes and turning points of life. The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana are about everyday matters and come in four suits: Wands (fire: energy and ambition), Cups (water: feelings and love), Swords (air: thoughts and conflict) and Pentacles (earth: money, work and home).
Read each card in its position first, then look at the story they tell together. Lots of Major Arcana cards means a big moment; lots of one suit tells you where the energy is. Browse every card in our tarot card meanings.
Questions about tarot readings
Is this tarot reading free?
Yes, completely, with no sign-up and no limit. Shuffle and read as often as you like.
How are the cards chosen?
The full 78-card deck is shuffled with true random numbers before you pick, and about one card in four comes up reversed. Then you choose the cards yourself from the face-down spread.
What does a reversed tarot card mean?
A reversed (upside-down) card usually means the card's energy is blocked, delayed, turned inwards or overdone. Each card page explains both the upright and reversed meaning.
Which tarot spread should I use?
Use one card for a quick yes or no or a card of the day, three cards (past, present, future) for a general question, and the love or career spreads for those topics.
Can tarot predict the future?
There is no evidence that it can. Many people use tarot as a tool for reflection: the cards prompt you to look at a situation from a new angle.
